About
Riboflavin is a water-soluble B-Complex vitamin whose main function is connected to its role as a coenzyme. Coenzymes are ‘helper molecules’ that activate enzymes. These coenzymes are essential for energy production via the respiratory chain in the body. Similar to Thiamine, it helps the body to metabolize carbohydrates, fats, and proteins, and aids in tissue formation. Riboflavin is also responsible for antioxidant functions, conversion of other B vitamins (B6 and folic acid) into their active forms, growth and reproduction, growth of hair, skin, and nails, and maintenance of good health.
